The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be a University), Chandigarh today concluded a five-day short-term course on “Product and Process Design for Sustainable Manufacturing” in collaboration with Design Innovation Center, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. The objective of the course was to develop an understanding of the present status of research in the domain of product and process design.
The course started on 23rd September 2022 with a floral welcome to Sh. Praveer Ranjan (IPS), DGP, Chandigarh, chief guest of the inaugural ceremony by Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Setia, Director of PEC.
For the effective learning of the participants in the five-day course number of Expert lectures on Sustainable Manufacturing, Design & Manufacturing of Sustainable Products, Ergonomics in Product Design, Advanced, Smart Materials and Sustainable Manufacturing, Semiconductor Device Fabrication Techniques, Funding Opportunities under PRISM and many more were conducted. The expert lecture sessions were followed by the participants visiting the state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence Siemens, Semiconductor Research Lab, Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO), Chandigarh.
The course concluded on 27th September 2022 with a vote of thanks by Dr. Perminderjit Singh and Dr. Sarbjit Singh Department of Mechanical Engineering. The participants were presented with a certificate of completion of the course and a memento by the Head of the Department Dr. S.K Mangal, Department of Mechanical Engineering, PEC.
The course was exclusively designed for young faculty and budding research scholars keen to pursue research in the innovative field of sustainable manufacturing.
