Dr. Baldev Setia is the Director of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh

Dr. Setia has been serving as Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering of National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, India since 2006. He has more than 35 years of experience in teaching, research, consultancy and administration. A graduate of Civil Engineering in 1985 and post-graduate of Water Resources Engineering in 1992, both from Regional Engineering College Kurukshetra, now National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra, he was awarded his PhD by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (India) in 1998. Dr. Setia has held important positions including that of one of the Directors at the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, the Principal of Maharishi Markandeshwar Engineering College, Mullana and  Nodal Officer of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, (IIIT) Sonepat, which had thus far been mentored by NIT Kurukshetra. He has published more than 170 research papers in international and Indian journals and conferences including four patents protected under Intellectual Property Rights (India). He has visited USA, UK, Australia, Spain, Iran and Japan for attending international conferences.

In 1985, Dr. Setia was honoured for being adjudged as the Best All-round Student of his batch of engineering students. Later, besides others, he was twice awarded the prestigious G.M. Nawathe Award instituted by Indian Society for Hydraulics for best research paper selected in its National Conferences HYDRO 2005 and 2015. Besides being member of a number of academic and professional bodies, he is the Fellow and Chartered Engineer of the Institution of Engineers (India), Indian Society for Hydraulics, and Fellow and Executive Committee Member of the Indian Water Resources Society.
