Electrical Engineering Department, PEC University of Technology and Mitsubishi Electric India Private Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration in the field of 'Factory Automation' here today under which Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd. has provided 'PLC Training Equipment and Programming Software' for the Mechatronics Lab of the institute. The MoU to this effect was exchanged by Prof. Sanjeev Sofat, Deputy Director, PEC University of Technology and Mr. Hiroki Omura, General Manager, Factory Automation Centre, Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd. in the presence of Registrar, PEC University of Technology Prof. Manish Jindal.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Hiroki Omura, GM, Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd. gave an account of the role Mitsubishi Electric has played in the development of the electrical and electronics industry in Japan, and their status as world leaders in the manufacture of such equipment. He expounded the CSR initiatives of the company in detail, and said that the objective of signing this MoU was to provide greater exposure to budding engineers to enhance their learning and development. On the occasion, Prof. Sanjeev Sofat, Deputy Director, PEC University of Technology said that PEC was one of the topmost engineering institutions in the country and had produced engineers par excellence over the last 94 years of its existence. He expressed hope that the equipment provided by Mitsubishi will help develop niche skills in electrical engineering disciplines in the students, and make them industry-ready.
Dr. Tarlochan Kaur, HoD, Electrical Engineering Department said that a University cannot succeed in isolation. It must engage deeply with industry sector and be mutually supportive. She thanked Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd. for their support to improve the quality of infrastructure in the institute. She said, "The MoU of PEC University of Technology with Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd. is an important initiative to create opportunities that will fuel a system of knowledge creation, knowledge transfer and application and will ultimately result in better placed students in the industry.
Registrar Prof. Manish Jindal thanked the visiting delegation and expressed hope for greater industry institute interaction in the future. He said that with the availability of such topnotch equipment, students can learn a lot and do wonders in their field of study.
