Adding another feather to its cap, PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh created history on its Founders Day (9th November) by signing an MoU with TATA Power Delhi Distribution Limited to set up a Center of Chandigarh Smart Grid Project, which is one of a kind and the first kind in the city.
For this historic event, Sh. Parimal Rai, Advisor to Administrator, Mr. Praveer Sinha, CEO TPDDL and Mr. Manish Dhariwal, Executive Engineer, UHBVN graced the occasion. Prof O. S. Sehgal, Former Principal, PEC and Prof Manoj K. Arora, Director, PEC also graced the occasion with their benign presence.
The event began with an invigorating recital of the PEC Anthem. Sh. Parimal Rai addressed the audience and elucidated the importance of Smart Grid Project by highlighting the fact that Chandigarh can't forever rely on the laurels of its past. It has to move forward in all spheres- both administrative and public, in the direction of being a smart city, by replacing the traditional technologies with the modern ones. He stressed on the need to revamp the basic infrastructure by availing modern technology.
Next Mr. Praveer Sinha rose to the occasion and addressed the gathering. He provided unique ideas on the digitization of technology and the utility of incorporating advanced technology in day-to-day life. This was followed by an address by Mr. Manish Dhariwal who talked about different smart projects being set-up in Panipat and other parts of India, and the estimated quantum of funding in this project, which is in a figure of a hundred crores.
This was followed by Director's address, Prof. Manoj K Arora, who discussed the importance of an intergrated development of industry, government and academia and making PEC a test-bed for technological development via the Gaia Smart City Project as well as with the help of diverse range of other projects.
The MoU between PEC University of Technology and TPDDL was then signed, concretizing the meet. All in all, this kind of initiative taken by PEC University of Technology and TPDDL is sure to provide a stimulating environment for research developments at PEC University of Technology. The event was a highly successful affair and gave all in attendance an overview of the digital future of tricity.
