The department of electrical engineering of PEC University of Technology organized an expert lecture on "Software Defined Networking, Network Evolution-Wired, Wireless and 1G-5G" delivered by Prof. Balbir (Bob) Gill on 19th August. It was attended by faculty members , Ph.D , PG and UG students. The lecture was organized in the seminar hall of the new academic block in the college. The lecture was proceeded by a floral welcome by the Head of the department, Dr.(Mrs.) Tarlochan Kaur, followed by a brief introduction about the speaker's career and field of expertise.
Prof. Balbir (Bob) Gill graduated from University of Victoria, University of Simon Fraser and further from British Colombia University. He worked with IBM and Nortel in Toronto and TELUS which is a leading Canadian Telecom Company. He has been a member of IEEE for more than 26 years and authored various publications and papers.
Prof. Bob gave an overview of Wired, Wireless and Mobile Networks evolution and discussed applications of various networks. He also talked on ' Truth about Lying in Academia and Industry and Professional 'Engineering Practise' and emphasized on the importance of work ethics in industrial and engineering practices.
The lecture was interactive and enlightening particularly for the younger generation of engineers and researchers to understand the technological innovations taking place in the telecom field, around the world.
The talk ended with the presentation of a memento and a vote of thanks.
