Electrical Engineering Department of PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh organized as Expert Lecture on "Multisensor Data Fusion and Applications "on 29th August, 2016 which was attended by over 250 enthusiastic UG, PG , PH.D students and faculty members from various departments. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Pramod V.Varshney, who is currently a Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Director of CASE: Centre for Advanced Systems and Engineering a Professor at Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, USA.
Prof. Manoj Arora, Director PEC University of Technology welcomed the speaker.
Prof. Pramod V.Varshney, gave an overview of emerging "multisensory data fusion technology'' and talked acquisition, processing and synergistic combination of information gathered by various knowledge sources and sensors for getting a better understanding of a phenomenon. He dwelled on application of Multisensor data fusion technology to a wide variety of fields such as military command and control, robotics, image processing, air traffic control, medical diagnostics, pattern recognition and environmental monitoring. He illustrated the potential of technology by means of examples.
The lecture was highly enlightening and engrossing particularly for the younger generation of engineers/ researchers to understand the technological innovations taking place in the field, around the world.
