IEEE student branch session on Cloud Computing (March 15, 2010)
IEEE Student Branch, PEC University of Technology organized a session on CLOUD COMPUTING on 15th march, 2010 by Mr. Vikram Bhatia from Microsoft. Mr. Vikram Bhatia is an IIT Kanpur and ISB Hyderabad graduate and manages the Interoperability strategy for Microsoft in India. In this role he works with various technology vendors, partners and customers to ensure that Microsoft technologies work well with other products, through various technical and business engagements. His core focus area is infrastructure technologies including data center, cloud computing, virtualization, identity management and high performance computing. He has over 14 years of experience and has worked for organizations like Netscape, Sun Microsystems and IBM in the past.
Around 40 students from various branches attended the talk given by Mr. Bhatia. The session started with showing of a video regarding the innovations taking place in the world of gaming and during the interactive talk he covered various topics like IT evolution , scope for clouds, types of clouds, roadmap to the cloud , Microsoft Cloud Data Centers, public cloud, private cloud and Cloud Application Development. During the course of the talk he introduced the students to the various developments coming up at the Microsoft research labs and the innovations that will be hitting the market in due course of time.
