VERVE 2010

On the 23rd and 24th of April, SAASC - The Speakers' Association & Study Circle of PEC University of Technology, conducted VERVE - The inter-college literary fest. The fest comprised of 4 major events as it invited colleges all over Chandigarh to compete and battle it out for the top prize. Of the four events, the first one - THE QUIZ was conducted on the 23rd of April in the college auditorium by renowned quiz master from Delhi, Dr.S. Bhattacharya, founder of the quizzing circle - Kutub Quizzers. The Quiz saw teams from PEC and UIET making it to the finals and ended with the team of Krithi Tripathi and Avijeet Singh from PEC taking away the first prize. On the 24th April, the three events that were lined up were The Debate, The Group Discussion and JAM (Just A Minute). The Debate took place in the morning and saw teams from Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), PEC University of Technology and University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) participate as they debated on the topic "You can't wake a man pretending to be asleep". The winners of the debate were Lakshay Sharma from CCET and Nitish Saxena from UILS. The Group Discussion saw an overwhelming response as more than 50 participants turned up for it but in the end, the winner was Ishita Mehta from PEC. The closing event of VERVE was the fun filled extempore called JAM (Just A Minute). As unique and humorous topics were being given to speak on, the crowd was in splits as the participants created wild stories and ideas in their minds. Finally, Harsheen Kaur from PEC stole the show and ended up winning the event. The overall response of VERVE was widely appreciated despite being held on a weekend as SAASC ensures to have more events lined up for the literary bugs of Chandigarh.
