41st Annual Convocation

            The 41st Annual Convocation of the PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh was held on 5th November, 2011.  His Excellency Shri Shivraj V. Patil, Governor Punjab & Administrator U.T. Chandigarh, was the Chief Guest. In the year 2011, a total of 370 students completed their B.E. programme in various disciplines and 23 graduated with Honours. 169 M.E. students also completed their programme of studies and 2 students completed their PhD programme. This was for the first time that degrees were conferred to PhD candidates.Addressing the convocation, Chief Guest His Excellency Shri Shivraj V. Patil, Governor Punjab & Administrator U.T. Chandigarh, congratulated students, their parents and also the University for their personal progress, as well as in their ability to make a difference to the world we live in. He also congratulated the college for its name not only in the country but also abroad. He emphasized that that the vision for the future, the boldness, the impartiality and broad outlook towards society would enhance their qualities and help them in their career. He emphasized on the new education policy, launched in 80’s which gave importance to science and technology, awareness and spirituality. He stressed that our country lacked in research and development area and highlighted the importance of courses like photonics, space technology, biotechnology, etc.  He also talked about the modern teaching methods such as bigger classrooms, electronic media particularly in our country where the population is very large. Technical Education, Chandigarh Administration also addressed the graduates.  He congratulated the graduates on being conferred with the rightly deserved degrees and the faculty members who worked hard to impart quality education, knowledge, skills and human values. “Learning is a continuous process and I am sure that you are all geared up to learn new things on your way ahead in life and utilize your knowledge in upliftment of down trodden and betterment of society”, said Sh. VK Singh.
Earlier, Prof. Manoj Datta, Director, PEC University of Technology, welcomed His Excellency Shri Shivraj V. Patil, Governor Punjab & Administrator U.T. Chandigarh and Shri VK Singh, Co-Chairperson Board of Management, PEC University of Technology, esteemed members of the Board of Management of PEC, distinguished guests, graduates of the year, members of the faculty, ladies and gentlemen and highlighted the excellent performance of the students in academics, sports and other extra-curricular activities. He highlighted the achievements of the Training & Placement Cell of the Institute.  332 out of the 364 eligible BE students of 2010-11 batch  have been offered jobs through campus interviews conducted by 93 companies. 93 ME students also secured jobs through these interviews. He thanked the Chandigarh Administration for adopting a positive approach towards all the problems of the institute. He mentioned the success achieved by PEC University of Technology students who participated and won in BAJA SAE India 2011 competition. He also applauded the students who were a part of the team that undertook a project funded by Chandigarh Administration for improvements in cycle rickshaws of the city. He also thanked the alumni for instituting awards and scholarships for the needy and meritorious students of the college.
