ABB Limited (India) - PEC (DU) Cooperation

Alumnus Rajeshwar Datta(BE-Mechanical Engineering, 1988), on behalf of ABB, Norway offered 50 user free licenses of robotic simulation software Robot Studio to Punjab Engineering College Deemed University), Chandigarh. The software is a product to perform robot simulation and programming and such simulation software in industry can cost tens of thousands of US dollars. This tool helps in teaching and research activities in the areas of computer aided robotic engineering.

PEC (DU) has accepted the gift with the objective that a combination of software and hardware availability of Robotics in PEC would substantially promote future teaching and research through tools and technologies of ABB, which is one of the world’s leading engineering companies. RobotStudio software will allow students to create a replica of real robots working space in virtual space. Dr. Manoj Datta, Director, PEC conveyed that the software will be placed on central server at the institute’s Computer Centre from where it can be made accessible to various labs as well as the Robotics Club room. The students have been keen to receive the software for their Robotics Club and enthusiastic to work on the simulated Robot to create applications of practical engineering utility.

A letter of cooperation has been signed between PEC (DU), Chandigarh and ABB Limited (India) by Dr. Gurnam Singh, Dean, Research Planning & Development, PEC and Sh. Anil Chaudhary, Assistant Vice President, ABB Limited (India).
