Women’s Day Celebration

To celebrate Women’s Day, Women Empowerment Cell of PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh hosted a plethora of interesting events and competitions on 7th and 8th March 2017.

Even with the feminism movement gaining momentum and receiving widespread support, women face certain setbacks in various aspects of life- be it social, educational or technical.

Engineering institutions are often under scrutiny for their tipped scales so in an effort to eliminate this environment of unfairness, Women’s day was celebrated at PEC.

Ranging from creative challenging tasks like Rangoli making and short story writing events to an interactive message wall featuring inspiring quotes, the activities garnered enthusiastic support and participation by students of every branch, year and gender. Various events like WECgram, Her Story Your Words, Rang De PEC, Bachpan Ka Batta, Zabaan pe Lagam were organized for the participants.

Physically engaging competitions like hopscotch and football were organised to push the spirit of sportsmanship that women display, to the forefront. The exhilarating turn out of the vast, socially aware crowd was a sight to behold and gave everyone in attendance a look at our bright future with budding minds like these. The winners were awarded with certificates and goodies in all the above mentioned events. The main event was BEND IT LIKE BECKHEM 2.0 which was all girls’ football 7 aside match. The event saw many female players volunteering to participate in the sport. The winners were facilitated with cash prizes and certificates.
