The 105th Meeting of the Senate held at Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh today on 05th March, 2024. The meeting was presided over by Chairman Senate, Director Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Setia. Various Important Agendas related to the Institute were discussed in the meeting.
Major Agenda Discussed: The major Agendas discussed in the 105th Senate Meeting are as follows:
- The new UG, Curriculum Scheme of Minor Degree Program with 18 Credits under the provisions of New Education Policy (NEP 2020) under the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has been approved by the members of Senate. All the provisions were mapped out in the meeting. This curriculum would promote Research & Innovation, Flexible UG Programs, Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), Incorporation of Vocational Education and Internships into the curriculum as well. This curriculum is wholeheartedly approved by the senate members in today's meeting. On the same guidelines the curriculum of UG Program of B.Design was approved by the senate members.
- The new UG Program, B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing would be initiated from the coming academic year (2024-25). This program is proposed by the Department of Mathematics. This 4 year program (consisting of eight semesters) would be initiated in full time mode from the coming academic years of 2024-25. This course will cover a range of topics from the fields of mathematics and computer science including mathematical modelling, computational algorithms, data structures and programming languages.
- Along with this a new PG Level Program Master's in Business and Data Analytics (MB&DA) would also be initiated from the academic year of 2024-25 in full-time mode with the approval of the senate members. This would be a 2 year program (consisting of 4 semesters), enabling the graduates to exhibit skills of analytics and critical thinking, leadership, and business acumen with a strategic growth mindset to navigate complex business situations. This would work as a combination of technology with business studies.
- The PG Program of M.Tech in Quantum Materials and Technology would be commenced from the coming academic year of 2024-25 as well, as per the approval of the senate members.
